CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Humidity increases this weekend and brings storm chances with it.
Expect lows in the mid 50s by the start of Friday. Skies will turn mostly clear overnight.
This should afford a good opportunity to view the partial lunar eclipse late this evening. The moon will be a little over 96% eclipsed, peaking at 11:12 p.m. on Thursday. It’s worth taking a look if you’re awake at that hour!
Friday’s weather will be very similar to today’s pretty great conditions, so make sure to make the most of it. A cool start in the morning quickly warms into the low to mid 80s again by afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Dew points stay reasonable during the day, hanging around 60 degrees or so. This barely registers as a bit humid on our Muggy Meter. All in all, it’ll be a great day and then evening for the first week of high school football in eastern Iowa.
We’ve been encouraging you to make the most of this weather while we have it, because things are going to change this weekend. Initially, this will come in the form of more clouds later on Friday night, with some showers and storms entering the forecast picture on Saturday. Most indications are that this chance begins in the northwest on Saturday morning, with potentially wet weather shifting southeastward through the afternoon. It won’t be a totally wet day, but you’ll want to pay attention to the forecast if you’ve got plans on Saturday that take you outdoors.
