No place like home as ‘Wicked’ manager returns to Iowa

Iowa native Steve Quinn says there’s no place like home.

As Quinn — who has served as company manager for “Wicked” for more than 20 years — and the cast of “Wicked” prepare for a three-week run of shows in Des Moines starting Wednesday, he said he’s truly excited to bring the show to Iowa, and to show off his home state to the cast.

Quinn, originally from Cedar Rapids, calls himself the “den mother” of the touring company of 65 people and more than a dozen pets. It’s Quinn’s job to make sure the traveling company has what it needs, and to make sure the group can load into the various theaters and have what the show needs to be a success in every city — including off-stage needs like dentists, fitness centers and activities during downtime…
