WASHINGTON, DC — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced it has closed a loan of up to $1.9 billion to help restart Iowa’s only nuclear power plant.
The loan to NextEra Energy will finance the restart of the Duane Arnold Energy Center in Linn County. The plant stopped operating in 2020.
“President Trump has set an ambitious course to restore American nuclear leadership, and the restart of Duane Arnold Nuclear Plant in Iowa marks another step in advancing America’s nuclear renaissance,” Deputy Secretary of Energy James P.
