Kirkwood Community College is seeking needed improvements with an $88 million general obligation bond referendum. If approved by voters, the bond funds would improve instructional spaces to better reflect today’s technology, equipment, and industry standards.
Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center Director Tera Pickens shares what the bond would do for the Washington campus, “For our local Washington students, of course we have many students post-secondary after they graduate high school, they are going up to the main campus in Cedar Rapids, and they are learning in these spaces that will be updated. But also any of the spaces that we are looking to modernize on our main campus, whether its updates in technology or updates in equipment, those same things will happen in our location in Washington, as well. So, if there are some programs in Jones Hall, which is our industrial technologies building, that are needing some equipment upgrades, and if we are offering those similar career academies here in Washington, we would also be looking to see those upgrades as well.”
