Chlorinated water discharges causes fish kill; may cost Cedar Rapids more money

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – On Thursday, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) was notified of a fish kill at McLoud Run Trout Stream. The City of Cedar Rapids reported that an estimated release of 450,000 gallons of chlorinated drinking water entered McLoud run from a building in the 4000 block of Center Point Road NE on January 23rd, 2023. Officials believe a fire suppression line may have burst due to the recent cold.
