CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Officials with the Iowa DNR say they’ve identified an ongoing fish kill in Cedar Rapids. On Tuesday, Jan. 23, Cedar Rapids officials reported that approximately 450,000 gallons of chlorinated drinking water were released from an unoccupied building at 4425 Cedar Point Road NE, which spilled over into McLoud Run Trout Stream. Officials said they believe the water was released by a fire suppression line that burst during recent cold weather. Since the spill, DNR staff have identified between 200 and 300 dead fish in the stream.
