CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A slow snow melt and well-timed rain is helping some of the newer trees planted since the derecho. Parts of Eastern Iowa from Iowa City to Minnesota are seeing extreme drought conditions. The two feet of snow on the ground last month followed by a thaw and steady rain, could be the perfect combination to help drought-stressed trees planted after the 2020 derecho.
