Record setting temperatures expected, rain and storm chances stand between us and cooler air

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Very mild air by February standards is with us still over the coming days. Sunshine mixes with clouds again today, helping temperatures warm well above normal yet again. We’ll reach into the upper 40s to mid 50s across eastern Iowa today and again tomorrow. Clouds will be more notable beginning tonight and throughout the day Wednesday ahead of chances for rain on Thursday. A few records could fall on both days for some. Going into the day, current records for February 6th stand at 56 in Waterloo and 52 in Iowa City, both expected to be broken today. On Wednesday, Dubuque is likely to set a new record, surpassing the current one of 51 set in 1882.
