The Iowa City Truth and Reconciliation Commission, in partnership with Native Healing Partners, will hold Healing Circle sessions on February 10 and 17, 2024. The sessions, led by Manape LaMere, Terry Medina, and Donnielle Wannatee, aim to provide a safe environment for dialogue and healing. Both newcomers and current Circle Keepers are invited to join.

The Healing Circle sessions will educate participants about the history and practices of Indigenous healing circles. They will also address racial harm and discuss ways to promote healing. These sessions are led by Indigenous practitioners and are designed to be immersive.

The first session is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Wright House of Fashion, 910 S. Gilbert St. Interested individuals must preregister via a provided link.

The second session will take place from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Dream Center, 611 Southgate Ave. Preregistration is also required for this session. These Healing Circle sessions are part of the commission’s ongoing efforts to foster community healing.
