A popular Mount Vernon restaurant is currently closed… but not for long! Big’s BBQ and Brew Pub is preparing to open in a brand new location in the very near future!. The good news for residents of Mount Vernon is that Big’s BBQ and Brew Pub is staying in the city. The restaurant’s new address is 106 1st Street West, the former home of Alger’s Pizza Palace. Alger’s officially closed in June of 2023 after 36 years in business. According to East Iowa Central News, owners Rawley and Lisa Alger were looking to slow down and focus on their attention on other priorities.
