Caitlin Clark fans drive almost 600 miles to see her play

IOWA CITY, Iowa — While Hawkeye fans pack Carver-Hawkeye Arena from every corner of the state, some drive from way out of state.

Cindy and Ron Green drove from Van Buren, Arkansas on Thursday, some 592 miles in 8.5 hours, to get to the Hawks’ game versus Penn State.

The two are die-hard Arkansas Razorback fans, even sporting a red “Hogs” helmet to wear to an Iowa Hawkeye game.

Stuelke scores 47, Clark adds 27 with 15 assists for Hawkeyes

They were ready to dash in to find their seats when the doors to an 8:00 p.m. game opened at 6:00 p.m.

“We started following her last year, the NCAA tournament and we just love the team,” said Cindy. “Love how she plays and she’s gonna set the record, so we came to see her — one from here, then go to Nebraska to see two games in a row.”

The plan is to see the record set on Sunday when the Hawkeyes play in Lincoln. That plan could be changed, however, as Clark scored 27 against Penn State, meaning she needs 39 to break the all-time women’s record.
