Kirk Ferentz is going to be absent on the Iowa sideline for the first time since 1998 when he wasn’t even the head coach for the Hawkeyes yet. Ferentz and wide receiver coach Jon Budmayr are both serving self-imposed one-game suspensions against Illinois State today for recruiting violations when trying to bring in quarterback Cade McNamara from the transfer portal.
