Cedar Rapids schools provide update on crisis prevention policies

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Cedar Rapids Community School district says its new policies on crisis prevention are heading in the right direction. The district is now two years into a settlement agreement with the Department of Justice that came in the wake of criticism of the District’s use of such things as seclusion rooms in the past. Since that agreement went into effect in 2022, CRCSD is barred from using seclusion rooms, and staff have completely redone all individualized plans for students who are known for concerning behaviors.
