Festival in Iowa City celebrates African heritage with music, food, and art

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The inaugural African Festival of Arts and Culture will take place in Iowa City on Saturday, Sept. 28, from noon to 9 p.m. at the Pedestrian Mall. Sunday Goshit, co-chair of the festival’s planning committee, joined Iowa’s News Now morning show to preview the free event, which will showcase the vibrant cultural heritage of African communities in Iowa through music, dance, food, and art. Organized by local African groups and organizations, the festival aims to celebrate diversity and unity.
