Iowa Coach’s Description of Caitlin Clark’s Biggest Strength Speaks Volumes

The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball program is heading into its first season of the post-Caitlin Clark era under first-year head coach Jan Jensen.

Jensen, who took over as the team’s new head coach following the retirement of Lisa Bluder, was recently asked what the program will miss most about Clark’s presence on the court this coming season.

Clark finished her four-year college basketball career as the all-time leading scorer in both women’s and men’s NCAA Division I history. And while the Hawkeyes will certainly miss her historic production, it’s her intangible elements that the team will miss most.

Jensen says the team will most miss Clark’s ability to empower her teammates and and elevate those around her.

Clark took this incredible strength to the professional level as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. The All-Star rookie quickly developed into a first-year leader for the Indiana Fever, who played their way into the postseason with the help of her historic Rookie of the Year production.
