November arrived for the Iowa football team and in the rain and the dark of a night game at Kinnick Stadium, it looked so much like all of the other games in the final month of the season that this program has produced over the years.
The 42-10 win over Wisconsin on Saturday night was a domination the Hawkeyes haven’t had in this rivalry for a while.
“It was a complete team win for us,” said Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz, just stating a simple fact.
It was the largest margin of victory for the Hawkeyes since a 41-0 win in 1996. Iowa has won three consecutive games, and four out of the last five, since an eight-game stretch when the Badgers won seven.
The Hawkeyes (6-3 overall, 4-2 Big Ten) outgained the Badgers (5-4, 3-3) 422-261, with 329 yards of those on the ground.
“Yeah, I didn’t see this thing coming tonight,” Ferentz said. “Sometimes that just happens where things start clicking a little bit. Just got to give our guys credit because they really came ready to go.”
