MARIETTA, Ga. – The University of Iowa women’s wrestling team competed in the Eagle Madness Open on Saturday, with 11 of the 12 participating Hawkeyes placing in the top three of their respective weight classes. Six Iowa wrestlers won individual titles, including Rianne Murphy (103 lbs), Cali Leng (124 lbs), Nanea Estrella (138 lbs), Reese Larramendy (145 lbs), Naomi Simon (180 lbs) and Jaycee Foeller (207 lbs). All 12 Iowa wrestlers reached the quarterfinals. Two title bouts (145 lbs and 207 lbs) featured head-to-head matchups between Hawkeyes.
Murphy earned a tech fall to open the tournament and then pinned Life University’s Macie Anderson (0:59), Emmanuel’s Lynnlie Rountree (0:41) and Life’s Alyssa Quezaire (1:06) to take the 103-pound crown. Emilie Gonzalez lost to Anaya Falcon of Life University by a 10-3 decision in the 110-pound finals. Valarie Solorio lost in the second round but fought back to earn third at 110, pinning Life’s Kaci Bice in 1:35 in the placement match.
