Meet the latest nominees for the Iowa City Press-Citizen’s Student of the Week

The Iowa City Press-Citizen Student of the Week has returned for another round of voting.

Each week, Johnson County high school principals and faculty are asked to nominate students who excel in and out of the classroom.

The public can vote at press-citizen.com until noon on Thursday, Dec. 19. The winner will be announced on Friday, Dec. 20, and an accompanying story will be published in the Press-Citizen.

Students from public and private high schools in Johnson County are eligible to participate.

The last student of the week was Claire Boyle, an Iowa City Regina Catholic High School senior .

Here are this week’s nominees:

Abril Bejarano Hamity, Iowa City High School

Abril Bejarano Hamity is a senior at City High School. Hamity’s teachers say she is one of the hardest-working students. Hamity is a leader within City High’s performing arts and always strives for greatness in each role while maintaining humility and working to lift and support those around her.
