Chris Tadjo Settling In at Iowa

By John Bohnenkamp

Chris Tadjo just finished his first semester of college.

“It was stressful,” the Iowa freshman forward said on Thursday. “I was still getting used to it. And I think, overall, it was really stressful.

“It was exactly what I expected. I definitely thought it would be hard.”

Tadjo admitted he puts a lot of pressure on himself for how he plays on the court, which is why he wanted his academic life to be smoother.

“I don’t really put a lot of pressure on myself academically, because I knew I would get my stuff done,” Tadjo said. “I don’t want to fall back, I hate that. So most of the time, I would do all my work before the due time, so it doesn’t put a lot of pressure on me.”

The biggest adjustment has come on the court, where he is still trying to fit into Iowa’s rotation. Tadjo has played in just four games, averaging 2.3 points and 1.3 rebounds.

“It’s still a little bit rough,” Tadjo said. “I’m still finding a way to adapt to the game, the speed of the game. Now practice, practice is pretty much fine. As a player, I think I’m getting better every day, because everybody is over there helping me out.”
