CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The mayor of Hills expressed his frustrations about what he said the Iowa City School District planned to do with a shuttered school. In a community newsletter, he wrote the term “f-word” repeatedly. The district closed the only school in Hills, but the mayor said it’s refusing to sell the land saying the town is growing and it might need to build a new school. Mayor Kemp wrote in the Hills Newsletter that the school district closed Hills Elementary claiming it wasn’t in a growing community and to hear now that the district wants to keep the land due to the growth of Hills rather than sell it to the city left him quote “Thunderstruck”.
