CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KGAN) — An Eastern Iowa family has moved into their new home, thanks to Habitat for Humanity. Valerie Hootman, her partner, and their four children are now first-time homeowners through Habitat for Humanity’s affordable homeownership program.
They were initially living in a small apartment, but now they’re in a home that gives their kids room to play. The family has been building the house themselves with the help of volunteers from Habitat for Humanity for the last year or so.
