CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Editor’s note: Alliant Energy tells Iowa’s News Now the full outage was not planned. There had been a scheduled outage for only a couple customers in the area Tuesday. While crews were working there, a transmission line failed, impacting the substation that serves customers in that area. A spokesperson said that larger outage was not planned and the outage map inadvertently said it was planned as well.
More than 2,000 electric customers were without power in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday.
