IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – Johnson County is taking a unique approach to solving its affordable housing. It bought an apartment complex and is doing the renovation.
The county bought a complex off Hollywood Boulevard last summer to make it affordable housing. While Johnson County has been addressing the housing crisis for years, this is the first time it bought physical property, but it only scratches the surface of the issue.
