(Undated) — Much of KMAland could see some rough weather later this evening.
National Weather Service officials have upgraded the chance of severe weather this afternoon and evening. Most of southwest Iowa and southeast Nebraska is in an enhanced risk for storms–with a 40-to-70% chance of thunderstorms, and a 30-to-45% chance of severe storms. Weather service officials say the greatest threat is between 5-to-10 p.m. But Weatherology Meteorologist Kara Foster tells KMA News it could be later this evening before it hits the immediate area.
“Showers and thunderstorms begin tonight–kind of very late in the evening,” said Foster. “We’ll kind of look at 9 o’clock or so. Now, the chances for us are pretty small–so, we’re only looking at about a 20% chance throughout tonight going into Friday morning. That being said, we were upgraded in our specific area to an enhanced risk for some severe weather. If you’re not within the boundary of the enhanced risk area, you’re going to be for sure at least in a slight risk.”…
