Texas Roadhouse is just about ready to show off their new Cedar Rapids restaurant! The new location, which is right next door to the current one, is set to open on Thursday, April 24th.
Why is Cedar Rapids Getting a New Texas Roadhouse?
Last fall, the owner and franchise operator of the Cedar Rapids Texas Roadhouse Chris Scheck announced that they would be building a brand new restaurant. To say that the new restaurant would be close to the old one is definitely an understatement. The address of the current Texas Roadhouse is 2605 Edgewood Road SW, while the address for the new one is at 2425 Edgewood Rd SW! It’s located right in the parking lot of the now-closed AMC Theater, which is currently being transformed into Fun City Trampoline Park.
According to a 2024 article from the Corridor Business Journal, there were a couple of reasons that owner Chris Scheck decided to relocate the Cedar Rapids Texas Roadhouse. First of all, the lease on the building is officially up this month, and secondly, the business has outgrown the current building, which was built back in 2000. The new, bigger restaurant will allow for some upgrades. The article reads:
“…the new location will encompass around 10,000 square feet – significantly larger than the current restaurant, which at 7,500 square feet, often sees long wait times and scarce parking, particularly on weekends.”
Will There Be Any Changes at the New Restaurant?
The bigger building means more room for diners. The seating capacity is expected to increase by around 75 people, and the waiting area will be larger, too. As far as carry-out orders go, the new building will have a separate entrance for those, which will reduce crowding. The restaurant will also offer more parking, as well as upgraded technology for employees.
When Will the Current Texas Roadhouse Close and the New One Open?
Texas Roadhouse sent out an email to VIP Club members today (April 18th), that revealed that this weekend would be the last weekend of business inside the old restaurant. It reads:…
