Man uses meth-covered money to pay for items, Iowa City police say

IOWA CITY, Iowa — An Iowa City man faces multiple charges after police say he attempted to pay for an item with money covered in methamphetamine.

Marcus Turner, 45, was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance, controlled substance violation, and failure to affix drug stamp.

According to a criminal complaint, Turner was at a store in the 1900 block of Keokuk Street just before 3 a.m. on Wednesday when he attempted to make a purchase using money that appeared to have a crystallized substance on it.
