Greetings Fellow Firefighters – In May, 1st vice Kent Brix and I headed to D.C. to attend the annual NVFC conference. While there we met with Iowa representatives to discuss our legislative efforts in hope of gaining their support. We had many great meetings with our Iowa legislatures. For the first time in a long time we were able to walk out of the meetings very confident that our voice was heard. We also had the opportunity to support our National Volunteer Fire Conference directors. Unfortunately, PP/NVFC Director Roger Bissen was unable to attend this year but we had PP/NVFC director Marv Trimble there this year. I was honored to be a guest for the spring conference.
Networking with other representatives from across the nation is a great resource. Being able to discuss their request for their states definitely helps us to bring back many new ideas and some additional ideas that would ultimately benefit our Iowa Firefighters.
The IFA Memorial Service is coming up on June 8th. I would strongly encourage you to attend if you haven’t. As some of you may have heard, the memorial is in desperate need to expand. We have plans in place to add new walls. With that, does come with a hefty cost. To help alleviate some of the cost, the memorial committee has decided to bring forward a new memorial print for purchase. These prints were presented at midyear and I will say the artist has done an amazing job. If you are interested in purchasing a print, please go to the IFA website for an order form. Get them ordered soon. Help Us Expand the Iowa Firefighters Memorial Wall…
