Cedar Rapids pharmacy can’t open until Gov. Reynolds signs or vetoes bill restricting pharmacy benefit managers

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A nonprofit Cedar Rapids pharmacy is staffed, prepped, and ready to start helping patients, but it can’t until Governor Reynolds either signs or vetoes a bill.

It’s been over a month since legislators passed Senate file 383 – a bill that sets new regulations for Pharmacy Benefit Managers, essentially the middlemen between pharmacies, drug manufacturers and insurance companies.

But there’s been no indication it will actually become law, and Eastern Iowa Health Center’s new pharmacy and urgent care are anxious for an answer…
