CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Expect a stormy day at times on Tuesday, with damaging wind possible in the strongest storms.

Monday evening stays fairly quiet, with hazy skies and warm temperatures. Winds will stay a little stronger than the last couple of nights with our incoming storm system, and clouds will gradually increase from the west. Lows fall into only the upper 60s to around 70 degrees.

The Storm Prediction Center includes the southeast half of the KCRG-TV9 viewing area in a Slight Risk for severe storms on Tuesday. The primary threat will be damaging wind gusts, though we cannot fully rule out an isolated incidence of hail or a tornado.

Showers and storms are possible near and after daybreak on Tuesday as an arc of weakening storms moves in from the southwest. These could be a bit strong, but factors such as time of day and a related lack of heating for the storms to work with will limit their severe potential.
