Pharmacist pleads guilty to stealing painkillers, swapping pills with Aleve

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A pharmacist who worked in Belle Plaine plead guilty for stealing hundreds of painkillers last month. He took these opioids for his own use, replacing them with an over the counter version of Aleve, a pain reliever.

Thomas Kelly, 55, a resident of Cedar Rapids, pleaded to two charges of prohibited act. His hearing is scheduled on July 24th.

In court documents, police said he was obtaining these pills illegally for 4 months while working for Hartig Drug. The man was confronted by management about an issue of missing prescription pills from bottles that were supposed to be at full capacity of 100 tablets…
