Sunday marks 17 years since record crest on Iowa River in Iowa City

IOWA CITY, Iowa (Iowa’s News Now) — Sunday marks 17 years since the Iowa River reached its highest crest ever. The river peaked at 31.53 feet, 5.5 feet above major flood stage, in Iowa City on June 15, 2008.

The floodwaters ravaged Iowa City and Coralville resulting in more than $270 million in damages.
