CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – An Iowa judge has denied a lawsuit filed by Riverside Casino and the Washington County Riverboat Foundation (WCRF) that challenged the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission’s (IRGC) decision to grant a gaming license to Linn County.
The groups sued the IRGC the same day it granted a gaming license to Linn County on February 6.
Riverside Casino and WCRF argued the IRGC did not have power to grant a license to Linn County. They claimed language on a ballot measure approved by Linn County voters in 2021 was faulty and did not actually allow for new gaming.
