Iowa-Illinois Weather Alert: Severe Thunderstorm Risk Monday Afternoon With Heat Index Over 105°F

Davenport, Iowa – Eastern Iowa and western Illinois could see severe thunderstorms and dangerously high heat index values by Monday afternoon, prompting weather warnings across the region.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon and evening, primarily between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. A Level 2 risk area includes Waterloo, while Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and the Quad Cities remain under a Level 1 risk. The primary threats include damaging wind gusts and large hail, with a lower—but not negligible—risk for tornadoes.

Cities such as Cedar Rapids, Burlington, Moline, and Macomb are also bracing for sweltering heat. Heat index values could soar above 105°F on Monday afternoon, with peak readings of 106°F expected in Cedar Rapids and 104°F in Moline.
