Iowa Weather Alert: Flash Flood Risk Rises Across Cedar Rapids, Iowa City Through Wednesday Night

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Torrential rain could flood roads and swell rivers across eastern Iowa through Wednesday, with flash flooding likely in cities like Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, and Iowa City.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, storms will bring widespread heavy rainfall starting Monday night, with a 50% to 80% chance of more than 2 inches falling across a large swath of the state. The greatest risk is in the yellow-shaded area, where Flood Threat Level 2 is in effect.
