Tributes to Caitlin Clark are nothing new. We’ve seen ads hanging from buildings in Iowa City. There are murals of the Indiana Fever star painted in Indianapolis. You have to wonder what Clark thinks of all the impromptu tributes. An homage to Caitlin in Cedar Rapids is getting some attention, and a local artist is behind the creation!
The Facebook page Hawkeye Heaven posted some pictures of the latest tribute to our hometown hero, Caitlin Clark. The statue was carved from a tree and stump left from the 2020 derecho that destroyed 50% of the tree canopy in Cedar Rapids. The man behind the Clark carving is artist Clint Henik. You can check out his work at the Carve R Way Facebook page. According to his website, Henik began making these wood carvings in 2015. He also does custom wood furniture. Henik helped bring this tribute to Caitlin Clark to life!
