CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Iowa’s News Now) — Linn County now has two new mobile trailers to help during emergencies.
R.A.P.I.D. (Recover, Assist, Prepare, Inform, and Distribute) trailers will help the Linn County Emergency Management Agency and the community prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
Linn EMA says the innovative trailers will bring “crucial services” directly to neighborhoods, such as:
- Charging ports and electricity for phones, laptops, and medical devices
- First aid supplies for minor injuries
- Weather and emergency updates via a 100-inch satellite TV, weather radio, and external speaker system
- Rest area with misting fans or portable heaters
- Recovery information and resource handouts during emergencies
These trailers meet a critical need and will help ensure that residents stay informed and connected when traditional infrastructure may be compromised after a disaster,” said Linn County EMA Coordinator BJ Dvorak. “We want people to interact with the trailers during our blue sky community events so they’re already familiar with the units and their resources, which will make the trailers even more effective in times of crisis…
