Less than one year after opening the first brick-and-mortar location on Mt. Vernon Road, owner Tim Palmer has revealed where the second Salsa Guy Cafe location will soon open in Cedar Rapids!
The Salsa Guy was a favorite at many Cedar Rapids downtown farmers markets, and on August 13th, 2024, Palmer opened up his first restaurant location at 2874 Mt. Vernon Road SE. The salsa and sauces that made him famous would find their way to the new restaurant, as would all-day breakfast burritos, pulled pork sandwiches, and throwback sandwiches from the days of Alfalfi’s Delhi, according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette.
The restaurant gained more headlines when they were named one of 10 finalists for Iowa’s Best Burger in March. The Gazette reports that the Conquistador Burger got the attention of the Iowa Beef Industry Council and the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association. The burger would come in second place in the competition.
