CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – An overall cooler day on the way for your Tuesday with occasional showers and thunderstorms.

You’ll notice a bit of relief from the heat, but the humidity remains. Highs will only be in the low to mid-80s, and heat index readings will not be much warmer than that.

Chances for storms continue, though, and there will be various rounds of activity at times through Thursday night with the main push of activity in the coming afternoon and evenings, but with the constant humidity and instability, the chance is present just about any time.

With multiple rounds possible, rainfall totals could end up being fairly heavy in spots. Multiple inches of rain could occur, which could lead to concerns for flash flooding and potentially rises on area rivers. You can always check the latest river stages on KCRG.com

After Thursday night, however, we expect a break from the stormier conditions for a couple of days. Temperatures will stay pretty warm through the weekend, with some upper 80s to low 90s making a return. A few showers and storms make a return on Sunday, too…
