CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Iowa’s News Now) — Another round of storms will move through eastern Iowa and some could be strong. A hot and humid day will turn to a stormy evening with the potential for tornadoes and strong winds.
The front that has been responsible for the rounds of rain this week will trigger storms after 2 p.m. If storms do form early, ahead of the main line, they would pose more of a tornado risk.
The primary line of storms will move into northeast Iowa after 4 p.m. and continue down to the southeast. The line will be capable of damaging winds, up to 65 mph, which could damage trees and lead to power outages. Some brief spin-ups are possible within the line as well.
Storms will approach Cedar Rapids and Highway 30 after 7-8 p.m., likely in a weakened state. Heavy rain is likely and could lead to ponding on the roads and localized flooding…
