Iowa DOT reduces ‘poor’ condition state-operated bridges by 90%

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Over the last 15 years, the Iowa DOT has cut the number of deficient highway bridges in the state by 90%.

That’s according to the latest DOT bridge report.

According to that report, there were 237 poor highway system bridges in 2009. As of 2024, that number is 23. The other 23 are also due to be repaired, like the one along Highway 100 and Center Point Road on the Northeast side of Cedar Rapids. The DOT said repairs were expected to start in the next few weeks…
