New Iowa gun law allowing 18-year-olds to carry handguns sparks confusion and debate

DES Moines, Iowa — A new gun law lowering the age you need to be to own and carry a handgun in Iowa is causing some confusion.

A Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post detailing what’s now allowed under that new law, which went into effect Tuesday, is now leaving some with more questions.
