CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The roundabout project at 8th Avenue and Mount Vernon Road SE has been completed after two years of construction. The roundabout is completely open to traffic. Multiple improvements have been completed in addition to the roundabout including reconstruction of the roadway, installing raised medians, replacing sewer systems, and putting in ADA sidewalk ramps. The reconstruction started in 2023. Additional improvements will be completed in the fall.

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – An eleven-time felon from eastern Iowa has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison. In August 2023, 51-year-old Kenneth Moore of Dubuque fired a pistol during a fight. Evidence presented at trial revealed Moore got into a disagreement with someone on the porch of a Dubuque house around 4:00 a.m. Two people tried to minimize the situation by pushing Moore away. Moore shot a pistol toward the house that nearly hit two people and went through the front wall of the house. He fled the scene. Police arrested Moore and found the pistol he fired twelve days before in his car. He was banned from obtaining firearms due to eleven previous felony convictions. Moore was sentenced to fifteen years in prison and three years of supervised release.

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – A man has been transferred to the Buchanan County Jail on nationwide warrants for second degree sexual abuse and lascivious conduct with a minor. In March 2022, it was reported that 49-year-old Jason Jackson had sexual contact with a minor under the age of 12. The report alleges Jackson had contact with the child between June 2008 and December 2013. The Independence Police Department looked into the report and could not find or get into contact with Jackson. The investigation was then passed on to the United States Marshals Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force (NIFTF). In June 2025, NIFTF received word that Jackson was living in the Kansas City, Missouri area. NIFTF shared the new information with the United States Marshals Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force (MVFTF). The MVFTF located Jackson on June 24, and took him into custody. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office arranged Jackson’s extradition, and Jackson was transported to the jail on June 30. He is currently on a $50,000 bond…
