Parents turn to second-hand shops and online deals amid rising costs of sports equipment

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Joe Smith is a father of two and the assistant coach of his daughter’s softball team. He is concerned about the tariff on sporting goods as the summer months continue to bring more expenses.

“It’s a very uncertain time, and it makes me pretty nervous,” Smith said.
