Willis Dady receives $50,000 Lowe’s grant for veteran housing renovations

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Willis Dady Homeless Services has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Lowe’s Hometowns project to renovate Westminster House, a Permanent Supportive Housing building for veterans. The grant will fund essential repairs and improvements to make the facility more ADA compliant.

The planned renovations include moving the laundry unit from the basement to the main floor, renovating the first-floor bathroom to enhance mobility supports, adding a concrete approach and ramp for increased accessibility, updating kitchen appliances, purchasing a new washer and dryer, and repairing gutters to prevent pest entry.

Westminster House accommodates four veterans at a time and is a crucial part of Willis Dady’s Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) program, which provides affordable housing to individuals facing persistent homelessness and high barriers to maintaining housing.
