CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Linn County Board of Supervisors is expected to approve an $850,000 settlement Wednesday in connection with the 2022 death of an inmate at the Linn County Correctional Center.
31-year-old Malorie Hults died in March 2022 after being booked into the jail on a charge of assault domestic abuse with injury without intent. Authorities said she was taken into custody around 6:20 p.m. after her mother called 911 seeking medical help for her.
Correctional center staff reported checking on Hults around 1:20 a.m. the following morning. During routine cell checks about 40 minutes later, a correctional officer found her unresponsive on the floor of her cell. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead…
