CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A hot Friday is followed up by a potentially stormy weekend.

We may see isolated showers and storms pop up tonight. Most of us will miss out, however. Lows will be warm tonight, only falling into the low 70s.

A Heat Advisory goes into effect for areas along and south of U.S. Highway 30 on Friday. This is the area likely to see the hottest conditions during the afternoon and evening.

Due to the expected lack of more widespread shower and storm activity overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, it looks like there will be little to stop things from heating up more substantially on Friday afternoon. A good southerly breeze, reaching speeds of 15 to 25 mph, may offer slight relief, but it will also help keep things warm and humid underneath mostly sunny skies…
