Strong storms cause damage, power outages in eastern Iowa Friday

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Iowa’s News Now) — A batch of thunderstorms moved through eastern Iowa Friday afternoon and knocked down trees and took out power.

Storms were able to develop due to the warm, very humid air that’s moved back into place. Strong wind gusts over 70 mph were reported in portions of eastern Iowa.
