CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Closing arguments in the Andrew Shaw murder trial have been pushed back to Thursday morning as attorneys continue to debate jury instructions.
Shaw is accused of orchestrating the December 2018 murder of Chris Bagley by hiring two men, Johnny Blahnik Church and Drew Wagner, to carry out the killing.
On the final day of testimony, the defense attempted to call Church as its first witness, but the judge ultimately ruled him out. Before that ruling, Church told the court he intended to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights regarding questions about Bagley’s burial and any involvement in his murder, while claiming he wanted to stop an innocent person from going to jail…
