Cedar Rapids pilot takes flight in fight to end polio

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A Cedar Rapids pilot is leading a flight around the Atlantic Ocean to raise money to help eradicate polio.

Peter Teahen, 72, hopes to raise $1 million during the 8,800 nautical mile flight. He’ll be joined at the controls by Ed Galkin, 89, of New Jersey.

“This is a great adventure of excitement and it’s to raise awareness and money to help eradicate polio on the world,” Peter Teahen said. “We’re going to take a plane just like the one we flew around the world, this one right next to me.”…
