Iowa City teen on probation for West High stabbing last year, charged with Aug. shooting

IOWA CITY, Iowa — An Iowa City 17-year-old previously on probation for jumping and stabbing a juvenile inside West High School last August is now charged with trying to kill a woman in early August.

Iowa City police arrested Moayed Elsid, 17, and an unnamed juvenile in an early morning Aug. 3 shooting on East Court Street in Iowa City.

Elsid is now charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm as a felon. The other juvenile is also charged with possessing a gun as a felon. Police did not name them since the charge is not categorized as a forcible felony…
